Ferebee Jr., 92, husband of Sandra Warren Ferebee, set sail on his final voyage May 21, 2010, after leading a full and vibrant life. O.B., the son of the late Oscar Benson Ferebee and Florence Swingley Ferebee, was born in Norfolk, Dec. 17, 1917. He graduated from Maury High School in the Class of 1936. He was predeceased by his daughter, Florence Ann Ferebee Pope and five brothers, Joseph Nelson Ferebee, Emory Cook Ferebee, Francis Kenyon Ferebee, David Swingley Ferebee and John Terrell Ferebee. Survivors include his wife, Sandra Warren Ferebee of Virginia Beach, and two daughters, Mary Keys "Keysie" Ferebee Maddox of Spartanburg, S.C., and her husband Joe, and Amy Elizabeth Ferebee Supan of Norfolk; as well as his sister, Ann Elizabeth Ferebee of New York City. Seven grandchildren also survive him, Alexandra "Lexa" Page Pope, Oscar "Ferebee" Tunno, Sara Miles Pope, Joshua "Josh" Paul Supan, Finn Michael Supan, Cyrus Keys Maddox and Joseph "McGee" Maddox. O.B. joined the Navy as a second class storekeeper on Dec. 19, 1941. In July of 1942, he joined the United States Army Air Corps as an aviation cadet and later became a second lieutenant in the United States Army Coast Artillery Corps. He returned home in March 1947 as a captain, C.A.C. O.B. joined Goodman Segar Hogan Real Estate that spring. In June 1950, he joined the United States Marine Corps Reserve as a captain. Two weeks later, his unit was called up for active duty in Korea. In 1952, after the Korean War, O.B. returned home and back to work for Goodman Segar Hogan Inc. as a residential salesman, working mostly in the Norfolk area. Soon after returning home, the Goodman Segar Hogan partners formed a new company, Goodman Segar Hogan Residential Sales Corporation and O.B. became the managing partner. The company and the area grew very rapidly and by the mid-1970s GSH Residential had 12 offices from the Oceanfront to Williamsburg. O.B. received many awards from the Realtor Organization and The Sales and Marketing Executives International. He was also very active in the formation of and the work of the Real Estate Information Network. For more than 50 years, he was active in the company and the real estate industry before retiring in 2002. O.B. was an avid golfer and yachtsman. He was a member of the Princess Anne Country Club, the Norfolk Yacht and Country Club and was a past commodore of the Cavalier Golf and Yacht Club. A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 25, at First Presbyterian Church of Virginia Beach by Pastor Gary W. Combs.
