Virginia Wright Ferebee, the wife of David Swingley Ferebee, crossed the bar 
on July 18, 2002 after leading a full and vibrant life which was centered on 
her family, church, and community. Virginia, the daughter of Virginia Hughes 
Wright and Bland Saunders Wright, was born in Norfolk. She made her debut to 
Norfolk and Richmond Society in 1946. Survivors include her loving and devoted 
husband of 52 years, David S. Ferebee of Norfolk; her daughter, Saunders Compo 
and husband, George of Norfolk; her son and his partner, David S. Ferebee Jr. 
and William Cooke of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; her grandchildren, Elizabeth Compo 
of Athens, Ga. and Hunter Compo of Norfolk. Other survivors are Bobby and Jean 
Hughes of Virginia Beach; PJ Hughes Forbes and husband, William of Virginia 
Beach; the Mary Austin Hughes family of Wytheville, Va.; the Betsy Moore 
Tompkins family of Ashland, Va.; the Polly Galt Capps family of Santa Rosa, 
Fla.; the Jeanie Galt La Fone family of Panama City, Fla.; and longtime family 
friend, Alice Holloway of Norfolk. A funeral service will be held on Saturday 
morning at 11 a.m. at Christ and St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 560 W. Olney 
Road, Norfolk, Va., by the Reverend James W.H. Sell. A graveside service will 
follow at the Elmwood Cemetery. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts. is handling the 
arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions may 
be made to Virginia's favorite charity, Christ and St. Luke's Episcopal 
Church, 560 West Olney Road, Norfolk, Va. 23507-2135, for the New Beehive.
