Her husband, Harley Bascom Ferguson Jr. and her stepson, Harley Bascom Ferguson III, preceded her in death. She was the daughter of the late Edward Keville Glennan and Virginia Cooke Glennan of Norfolk. She is survived by her three beloved stepchildren, Molly Ferguson Pulliam and her husband Edward of Alexandria, VA, James Willson Ferguson and Marion Burnam Ferguson of Richmond, KY; two step-grandchildren, Abigail Ferguson Pensky and Harley Bascom Ferguson IV, and by her seven step-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Ferguson leaves a legacy of a work ethic, a savings ethic and a positive outlook towards life, which enabled her to give generously both to charities in the community and to individuals in need. She devoted over 4,000 hours volunteering in the Emergency Room at Virginia Beach General Hospital during the 1960's and 1970's. She was a very spiritual person and with a smile she used to say, "I put my faith in three things: the Lord, Scotch whisky and duct tape. If one of them won't fix it, the others will." Mrs. Ferguson was a member of Galilee Episcopal Church. She was a member of the Junior League of Norfolk-Virginia Beach and the Virginia Beach Garden Club. She was a former board member of The Old Coast Guard Station, Sugar Plum Bakery, Eastern Virginia Medical School Foundation, and Westminster- Canterbury Foundation. She was a founding member of the Virginia Beach Foundation. She established both the Westminster Canterbury Professorship and the Glennan Center for Geriatrics and Gerontology at Eastern Virginia Medical School. Burial in Elmwood Cemetery will be private. A memorial service will be held at Galilee Episcopal Church at noon on Thursday, December 6. Memorial donations may be made to any of the above organizations or the Virginia Beach Rescue Squad. H.D.
