Mrs. Nellie Theresa Cook Fernandes, 74, widow of Bernard Fernandes, and daughter 
of the late Capt. James and Mrs. Felicia Lazarus Cook, died at 7:30 a.m., Sunday 
at the residence, 2925 E. Ocean View Ave., Norfolk.

Mrs. Fernandes was a native of Nova Scotia and had been a resident of Norfolk for 
70 years.

She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, of the Ladies Auxiliary Fleet 
Reserve No. 60 and the Ladies Auxiliary Spanish-American War Veterans.

Surviving are a son, George Fernandes of Houston, Tex.; three daughters, Mrs. 
Angela Chapman of Norfolk, Mrs. Willie Yielding of Newport News and Mrs. Hugh R, 
McCabe of Lynnhaven and nine grandchildren.

The Rosary will be recited at the H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, Wednesday at 
7:30 p.m.  A funeral service will be held at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 
Thursday at 10 a.m.  Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
