PORTSMOUTH - Candido Fernandes, widower of Mrs. Felcia Fernandes, died yesterday 
at 4:25 a.m. at his home, 248 Battery Park Rd., Brentwood, after a long illness.
A native of Portugal, he had resided in Portsmouth for more than 60 years. He was 
employed by the Portsmouth-Norfolk County ferries for 50 years.
He was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church, Cradock.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. E. H. Greene, of Portsmouth; one stepdaughter, 
Mrs. Nellie Fernandes, of Norfolk; one grandson, George L. Sanders, of Portsmouth, 
and one great-granddaughter, Renay Saunders, of Portsmouth, and numerous nieces 
and nephews.
The body was taken to the Foster Funeral Home, where rosary services will be held 
today at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted tomorrow at 11 a.m. at Holy 
Angels Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Norfolk.
