Virginian-Pilot November 1, 1961
NORFOLK - John Powell Ferratt, 60, retired employee of Watkins Salt Co., died 
Tuesday at 8:10 p.m. in his home, 916 Spotswood Ave., Apt 1-A.
A lifelong Norfolk resident, he was the husband of Mrs. Lelia Owens Ferratt and 
son of John B. and Mrs. Mattie Sue Powell Ferratt.
He retired from the salt company this year. He was a member of Episcopal Church 
of the Ascension and Norfolk Masonic Lodge 1.
Besides his widow, surviving are a daughter, Mrs. A T. Leggett of Norfolk; a 
son, John Powell Ferratt Jr, of Arlington; three sisters, Mrs. Elias Etheridge 
and Mrs. James O. Welch of Norfolk and Mrs. M. M. Fitzhugh of Newport News, and 
two grandchildren.
The body was taken to Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home.
The family will be at the home of his daughter, 820 Jasmine Ave., Ingleside.
