Fiano, a sweet, gentle man, died Sept. 23, 2004, after two years of living with cancer. He was 33. Tommy's boys, Matthew and Tanner, were his love and heart. He is also survived by his father and mother, Thomas and Mary Fiano; his brother and sister-in-law, Joey and Hali Fiano; his sister and brother- in-law, Janna and Gavin Pate; and his two nephews, Mason and Beckett Pate. Tommy was a proud member of the Local 110 Plumbers and Pipefitters Union. He graduated from their five-year apprenticeship, beginning his career as a journeyman and finishing as a foreman. Tommy's passions included camping with his boys, driving his Jeep on the beaches of Corolla, rooting for the Dallas Cowboys and enjoying the company of his family. Loving and beloved father, son, brother, uncle - we will love and miss you always. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 1 p.m. today at Christ the King Catholic Church by Father Brian Rafferty. Interment will be Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk chapel, is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations for the boys' educational fund may be given to the savings account of Matthew Fiano at any area BB&T or may be mailed to the home of Thomas and Mary Fiano.
