His wife was the late Anna Charlotte Fields. He had been a delegate to the State Federation of Labor for 15 years and was active in organizing labor union locals. He followed the trade of cigar maker, and retired eight or nine years ago. He belonged to the Cumberland Street Methodist Church. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Doris V. Ward, of Norfolk, and Mrs. Grace E. Cowan, of South Norfolk; a son, William Robert Fields, of South Norfolk; 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. The body was taken to the Graham Funeral Home, South Norfolk, where services will be held Saturday at 2 p. m. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
