Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Wednesday, December 22, 1993 
Mary E. Fields, 83, of the 900 block of Spaulding Drive, died Dec. 19, 1993, in
a local hospital.

Mrs. Fields was born in Norfolk. She was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church
and the Female Usher Board 1. She was also a member of E.T. Myers Missionary
Circle and Golden Years Club. She was actively employed with Stanley Home
Products for over 39 years. She retired as a district manager and remained in a
top managerial position until her passing.

Survivors include a daughter, Alvah F. Chapman of Norfolk; a son, Melvin D.
Fields of Norfolk; a sister, Elmira E. Williams of Chesapeake; eight
grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents, Henrietta Edmunds and Moses R. Edmunds.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 23, 1993, Mount Olive
Baptist Church, corner of Ludlow and Rugby, Norfolk, by the Rev. John R. Davis
Sr. The body will lie in state in the church from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday.
The family will receive friends at 7112 Clarion Lane, the home of her daughter.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery . Hale Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
