(Dukie) Fields Sr., a retired butcher and member of Excelsior Band, will receive funeral rites at 2 p.m. Friday at Bank Street Baptist Church, where he held membership. Mr. Fields, who lived at 1013 Norchester avenue, died Monday in a hospital. He was a native of Norfolk and was a member of Eureka Lodge and Excelsior Masonic lodge. The Rev. John B. Henderson will deliver Mr. Fields’ eulogy. The body will lie in state at the church from 11 a.m. until the funeral begins. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery under direction of Riddick Funeral Home. Mr. Fields is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Geraldine King of Norfolk; Mrs. Mildred Marrow of New York; Mrs. Marie Carey, and Mrs. Lucy Taylor of Washington and Mrs. Evelyn J. Fields of Petersburg; five sons, Junius F. Fields Jr. and Richard T. Fields of Norfolk; Moses W. Fields of Long Island, NY; Marvin F. Fields of Washington and James R. Fields of Charleston, SC; 16 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
