A native of Wilson, NC, he was the husband of the late Mrs. Lula Finch and a son of the late Zed and Mrs. Minnie Finch. He was a deacon of Antioch Baptist Church. Surviving are a son, James Finch Jr. of Florida; six daughters, Mrs. Minnie D. McClendor of Washington, Mrs. Elsie E. Randolph of Silver Spring, MD; Mrs. Luthenia Harris of Norfolk, Mrs. Willie Mae Alston of Baltimore, Mrs. Lillie Mae Jones of Cincinnati, and Mrs. Alice Marie Hines of Portsmouth; six sisters, Mrs. Fannie Rick and Miss Mamie Finch of Wilson, Mrs. Annie Cotton of Baltimore, Mrs. Nona Smith of Middlesex, NC, Mrs. Alice Morgan and Mrs. Mattie Morgan of New York; eight grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and a great-great- grandchild. Funeral services were held in Antioch Baptist Church by the Rev. I. Joseph Williams. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery with Hale Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
