Jessie L. Fincham passed on Tuesday, Dec. 2, 1997, at DePaul Hospital after a long 
illness. She was a retired Norfolk teacher and wife of James J. Fincham.
A faithful member of Basilica of St. Mary of The Immaculate Conception Church, 
Mrs. Fincham was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America. She was a graduate 
of the former St. Joseph's Catholic elementary and high school and Virginia State 
College, Petersburg, Va., and did further study at Columbia University. 
Mrs. Fincham was a teacher in the Norfolk public school system for more than 40 
years, a member of the Retired Teachers Association of Virginia, the Alumni 
Association of Virginia State University and the National Sorority of Phi Delta 
Kappa Sorority.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Basilica of St. Mary's at 
noon Tuesday with interment in St. Mary's Cemetery. Hale Funeral Home, Norfolk, is 
handling arrangements.
