Norfolk Virginian Pilot October 3, 1944

Francis Gordon Finegan, aged 62 years, husband of Mrs. Grace Roper Finegan and 
son of the late James J. and Mrs. Elizabeth O'Mara Finegan, died at 9:20 o'clock 
yesterday morning at the residence, 847 West Thirty-fifth Street.
Mr. Finegan, retired member of the Norfolk Fire Department, was a native of 
Richmond and had been a resident of Norfolk for 24 years. Besides his wife, he 
is survived by two daughters, Sister Mary Frances, of Baltimore, Md. and Mrs. 
Joseph Fitzgerald, of Miami, Fla.; two sisters, Mrs. Mary E. Koster and Mrs. 
Nannie Walker, of Richmond and two grandchildren.
The body will be taken from the H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments to Blessed 
Sacrament Catholic Church for services Thursday morning at 10 o'clock. 
Interment, St. Mary's Cemetery. Rosary services will be held at the H.D. Oliver 
Funeral Apartments Wednesday night at 8 o'clock.

Francis Gordon Finegan — Funeral services for Mr. Finegan, who died Monday at 
the residence, 847 West Thirty-fifth street, were held at 10 o’clock yesterday 
morning at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, with the Rev. Bernard McKenne, 
officiating. The Rev. Joseph W. Brennan, was present in the sanctuary. Interment 
was in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Pallbearers, members of the Norfolk Fire Department, 
were Capt. Jerry Coleman, Capt. William Baxter, Capt. George Reynolds, Dan 
Dozier, J. J. Whalen, and W. B. Copeland.
