He was a native of Germany, but had been a resident of Norfolk, and employed as second officer on the wrecking tug I. J. Merritt, of the Merritt-Chapman Wrecking Corporation, for many years. He had no relatives in this country. He had four brothers who died in the German army during the World War. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Fischer, of Germany. Funeral services will be conducted this afternoon at 3:30 o’clock at H. D. Oliver's funeral apartments, 610-612 East Freemason street. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Additional Comments: Burial was actually in St. Mary's Cemetery. Burial site was changed after the newspaper obituary was published.
