John Frederick Fishel, Jr. (Fred) departed this life on November 12, 2021.  He was 
born in Norfolk, VA on October 26, 1945, to Helen W. and John Frederick Fishel, 
Sr.

He was predeceased by his parents and a brother, James.  Fred is survived by his 
sisters, Cathy Moore (Buddy) of Chesterfield, VA, Tina Perry of Aulander, NC and 
Theresa Barraclough (Darryl)  of VA Beach, VA and a brother, Stephen Fishel 
(Trice) of Henrico, VA.  He is also survived by eleven nieces and nephews.
Fred worked for Norfolk Paint Company (Sherwin Williams) for 43 years.  He was an 
active member of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church.  In his spare time, Fred 
enjoyed his woodworking and attending the symphony.

A memorial mass will be scheduled on January 14, 2022 at 11:00 am at Saint Gregory 
the Great Catholic Church, 5345 Virginia Beach Blvd.  Those attending are asked to 
wear jeans and a t-shirt, his favorite attire. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s 
Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Gregory the Great 
Catholic Church.
