Educated in Norfolk at the Leache-Wood College, she later organized a private school for boys in Norfolk. She left here in 1892 and acquired the girls' school in Hampton. A native of Shirley, the Fitchett family estate in Northampton County on the Eastern Shore, her late parents were John R. and Mrs. Frances Simkins Fitchett. She was a granddaughter of Dr. Jesse Jarvis Simkins, surgeon of the Confederate army. No immediate members of her family survive. Funeral services will be conducted today at 11 a.m., at her home in Hampton by the Rev. Raleigh M. Engle, pastor of the Hampton Presbyterian Church, and Dr. Paul K. Buckles, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, Newport News. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Norfolk.
