FITCHETT The death of Mr. Charles P. Fitchett at his home, in this city, at 8 o'clock yesterday morning was received with expressions of deep sorrow by his many friends in Norfolk. The deceased was in the 49th year of his age and was a member of the auction and real estate firm of C.P. Fitchett & Co., and was well known and universally esteemed in the community. He possessed a kindly and gentle disposition that made him a favorite with all with whom he was associated. Mr. Fitchett was the son of Mr. and Mrs. John R. Fitchett, of No. 122 Duke Street, who survive him with two sisters, Miss Bessie Lee and Laura Fitchett. He was also the grandson of Dr. J.J. Simpkins, who prior to the war between the states was a prominent citizen of Norfolk and who was at one time collector of this port. The deceased was born in Northampton County, Eastern Shore, Virginia, but had resided in Norfolk the greater portion of his life and for many years held a clerkship in the Norfolk custom house. The funeral will be solemnized from the residence of his parents at 5:30 this afternoon.
