He was a native of Norfolk and the son of the late Junious and Rosa Epps Fitzgerald. He was the widower of Helen Fitzgerald. Mr. Fitzgerald retired from the Norfolk Naval Air Reworks Facility as a mechanic after 37 years of service. He was a member of Queen Street Baptist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He leaves to cherish his memory two daughters, Carolyn Brown and her husband, Jesse, of Prince George County, and Ann C. Hunter and her husband, Charles, of Hopewell. He also leaves a sister, Mable Waller and her husband, Oscar; nine grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A funeral will be conducted at noon Thursday, Jan. 11, 2001, in Queen Street Baptist Church with the Rev. Peter Wherry officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery . Viewing will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Riddick Funeral Service. The body will be placed in church at 10:30 a.m. Thursday. The family will be at his residence.
