Mrs. Hester Fitzgerald, 71, of 2422 Masi Street, did Friday, Oct. 11, 6:45 p.m. 
succumb at her residence after a lengthy illness.

The daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Brickers of Columbia, NC, she is 
survived by her husband, Collie Fitzgerald, Sr.; two sons, Collie Jr., of 
Norfolk and Ivory of the U. S. Army in Germany; two daughters, Mrs. Lillie 
Crawford, Norfolk, and Mrs. Mary Braye, Philadelphia, Pa.; two sisters, Mrs. 
Hattie Fennon, Plymouth, NC, and Mrs. Beatrice Spencer, Columbia NC; two 
brothers, William and Elword Brickers, Norfolk; four grandchildren and one great 
grandchild.

The body lay at the residence from Saturday evening, Oct. 19, until Sunday. 
Funeral services were held Sunday, Oct. 20 at 1 p.m. at the Union Christian 
Church. The Rev. S. P. Jenkins officiated.

Burial was in Calvary Cemetery with Morning Glory Funeral Home in charge.
