PORTSMOUTH - On Sunday morning, Dec. 11, 2005, Callay T. Fitzhugh, 88, quietly 
slipped away at his residence into the arms of his Lord and Savior. 

A native of Norfolk, he attended Norfolk public schools and was a graduate of 
Booker T. Washington High School. At an early age, he was baptized at Bute 
Street Baptist Church in Norfolk and attended service there for a number of 
years. Callay T. Fitzhugh retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard after 33 years 
of service. 

He was predeceased by his parents; former wife, Ruth F. Edwards; and daughter, 
Millicent E. Washington. He is survived by his daughter, Dolores F. Eure and 
husband Dr. Albert S. Eure; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three 
great-great-grandchildren; one aunt and many cousins. 

A service of remembrance will be held at Hale Funeral Home Inc., 2100 Ballentine 
Blvd., Norfolk, Thursday at 11 a.m. The body may be viewed at the funeral home 
today. The family will be at the residence, 1513 Cavalier Blvd., Portsmouth.
