WM. H. FITZJONES, ORGANIST, IS DEAD Professor William H. Fitzjones, 60 years old, and one of the best known organists in this section, died yesterday afternoon at 4 o'clock at one of the local hospitals after a brief illness. He had served with distinction Christ Trinity Church, Portsmouth and St. Thomas' Church, Berkley. He was a native of Oxford England where he was educated in music and had been a resident of this country 32 years. He is survived by one sister, Mrs. E. Sarsbrook of Oxford, England. The body was taken to the funeral apartments of E. Lee Cox and after preparation for burial was taken to the St. Thomas P.E. Church rectory for the funeral Monday afternoon at 3 o'clock. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery. **************************************************** The funeral of Professor William H. Fitzjones was conducted in St. Thomas Episcopal Church yesterday afternoon and was very largely attended. Rev. W.H. Osborne, rector of the church, conducted the services. His family was represented by Mrs. J.J. Ottley, Miss Sue Parker, Mrs. Urbanna H. Parker, Mrs. Lena O. Parker and Mrs. W.H. Osborne. As a mark of esteem and appreciation his body was interred in the Ottley- Parker lot in Magnolia Cemetery. The pallbearers were: Honorary -- Howard Sheild, Minton W. Talbot, R. Exner of Norfolk and C.H. Williams of Berkley. The active A.J. Lancaster, J.S. Whitworth, George T. Tilley, R.A. McCoy, N.S. Smith, J.E. Gould, W.W. Robertson and J.J. Ottley. The congregation and choir of St. Thomas' Church gave as a fitting floral tribute a handsome pall, in addition to which several beautiful and handsome floral designs were sent by friends from Norfolk and Berkley. As a further mark of appreciation, both the senior and junior choirs, comprising fifty or more voices, participated in the services and marched from the church to the cemetery in their vestments to pay a last and fitting tribute to their deceased organist, whom they loved devotedly.
