Norfolk Virginian Pilot November 7, 1952

Mrs. Mary Ferris Flaherty, 70, wife of Charles E. Flaherty and daughter of James 
J. and Mrs. Mary McGee Ferris, died yesterday at 1:30 a.m. at a Norfolk 
hospital.
Mrs. Flaherty was a native of Norfolk and a lifelong resident of this section, 
residing at Sylvan Beach, near Ocean Park, Princess Anne County, at the time of 
her death. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
Besides her husband, Charles E. Flaherty, she is survived by three sons, the 
Rev. J.L. Flaherty, Charles E. Flaherty, Jr. and Leo F. Flaherty and five 
grandchildren, all of Norfolk and one sister, Mrs. H.B. Curry of Brooklyn, N.Y.
The body will be taken from the residence to Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Ocean 
View, for services tomorrow at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. 
Rosary services will be conducted at the residence tonight at 8:30.

Mrs. Mary Ferris Flaherty — Funeral services for Mrs. Flaherty, wife of Charles 
E. Flaherty, who died Thursday, were conducted at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 
Ocean View, yesterday at 10 a.m. by the Rev. J. Louis Flaherty. Present in the 
sanctuary were the Most Rev. Peter E. Ireton, the Rev. Anthony Korkemaz, the 
Rev. Julius O. Schmidhauser, Msgr. Thomas E. O’Connell, the Rev. Andrew Doris, 
the Rev. James P. Gaequin, the Rev. Edward W. Johnston, the Rev. Thomas 
Cantwell, S.S.J., the Rev. Benjamin M. Horton, S.S.J., the Rev. Walter W. 
Herbert, the Rev. Thomas P. Scannell, the Rev. Carroll T. Dozier, the Rev. James 
H. McConnell, the Rev. John J. O’Hara, the Rev. Julius J. Cilinski, the Rev. 
Henry Magee, the Rev. Richard Rivard, the Rev. Thomas M. Summers, the Rev. 
Andrew J. Grygiel, C.H.C., Msgr. Joseph F. Govaert, the Rev. Gilbert F. 
Ferreira, the Rev. Francis L. Bradican, Msgr. Leo J. Ryan, the Rev. Gabriel 
Maiorello, the Rev. Justin D. McClunn, the Rev. P. A. Schouten, the Rev. M. J. 
Harrison, the Rev. Carols Poole, the Rev. Stephen Wendell, O.S.B., Father 
Damian, 0.S.B., the Rev. Constantine Zech, O.S.B., the Rev. Urban Lux, 0.S.B., 
the Rev. F. H. Nott, the Rev. Conrad C. Hoffner, the Rev. B. J. McKenna, the 
Rev. John Meehan, the Rev. Walter W. Molloy, the Rev. Francis J. Blakely and the 
Rev. William P. Byrnes. Burial was in St. Mary’s Cemetery. The pallbearers were 
Reon G. Hillegass, Sr., E. E. McConnehey, Frank A. Beuerlein, C. E. Smelser, 
Robert A. Hutchinson and E. F. Caldwell.
