Mrs. Carrie Flanagan, 73, of 2523 West avenue, died at 8:45 a.m., July 12 at home 
following a long illness. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. July 14 at Hale’s 
Funeral Home with the Rev. H. T. Myers, pastor of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 
officiating.

Mrs. Flanagan was a native of Smithfield VA, and the daughter of Mills and Mrs. 
Katie Blount Penard. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Bertha Robinson, Mrs. 
Carrie Lee, and Mrs. Gladys Hall of Norfolk; a son, George Flanagan, of New York; 
a step-son Joseph Flanagan, of Baltimore MD; two grandchildren, and three great 
grandchildren. Interment was in the family plot in Calvary Cemetery.
