Virginian-Pilot December 11, 1929
John Andrew Flora, aged 76, died at the residence, Georgia avenue, yesterday 
afternoon at 12:15 o'clock. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ellen Cox Flora; two 
daughters, Mrs. H. V. Giles and Mrs. Lillian F. Whitehead; three sons, V. D., J. 
E. and I. H. Flora; a sister, Mrs. L. Forbes; eight grandchildren and a great-
grandchild. Mr. Flora was a native of Moyock, N.C., and had been a resident of 
Norfolk for the last 50 years. Until his retirement several years ago, he was in 
the employ of the Virginia Electric and Power Company.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Twenty-
ninth and Granby streets, tomorrow afternoon at 3 o'clock. Burial will be in 
Elmwood Cemetery.
