NORFOLK - Katherine Byrd Flora, of the 100 block of Haven Drive, died Saturday, 
Oct. 29, 2005, peacefully in her home.

Mrs. Flora was born in Billings, Mont., and was the daughter of the late John T. 
and Delores V. Byrd.

Kathy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend; she will be 
deeply missed.  Survivors include her husband, Joe Flora; her son, David A. Byrd 
and his wife Christin of Chesapeake; her stepson, Joseph A. Flora of Norfolk; her 
sisters, Linda Hussey and her husband Burt and Chrissy Whitford and her husband 
Tony, all of Norfolk; three brothers, John T. Byrd III of Knotts Island, Dan Byrd 
of Romania and Mike Byrd of Norfolk; and her grandson, Daniel Byrd of Chesapeake.  
Mrs. Flora is also survived by several nieces, nephews and many, many friends.

Kathy was an 11-year cancer survivor who touched many lives and proclaimed Jesus 
as her Lord and Savior.  She attended Christ United Methodist Church and her 
memorial service will be conducted by Dr. Dan Phillips Abbott.

The memorial service will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the Norfolk Chapel of 
H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts.  The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the 
service.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Daniel Byrd 
Missionary Fund, c/o South Norfolk Baptist Church, 1101 Chesapeake Ave., 
Chesapeake, VA. 23324.
