Floyd, 68, of 710 Appomattox St. died Thursday at 7:10 p.m. in a Norfolk hospital after a short illness. He was a son of Thomas and Mrs. Julia Floyd and a native of Vance County NC. He had lived in Norfolk for 52 years. He was a retired railroad oiler, having worked for Norfolk & Southern Railroad for 42 years. He retired in 1952. He was a member of Ebenezer Masonic Lodge 66, AF and AM and Alpha and Omega Consistory 9, of AASR. He also was a member of te Beacon Light Civic League and St. James A.M.E. Church. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Elva A. Floyd. The body was taken to Fitchett Funeral Home in South Norfolk. A funeral service will be conducted at St. James A.M.E. Church Sunday at 1:30 p.m. by the Rev. E. William Judge, pastor. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
