Floyd, after a ten weeks illness of typhoid fever, departed this life yesterday afternoon at 4 o'clock at the home of his family on Sixth street, in the 38th year of his age. The deceased leaves a wife, two children a brother, Mr. James Floyd, in Lancaster, Va. and a sister, Mrs. Florence Todd, in Talbert County, Md., where he was born, and resided until 12 years ago when he came to Virginia with his family. He was a carpenter by trade and was favorably known by many of his fellow men. He was a consistent member of Berkley Avenue Baptist Church, Norfolk Lodge Woodmen of the World and Tidewater Council, No. 30, Jr. O.U.A.M. The funeral will be conducted from the Berkley Avenue Baptist Church Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. T.C. Skinner, the pastor will officiate, after which his remains will be interred in Magnolia Cemetery. The orders of which he was a member will attend the funeral in a body. He has fallen asleep; he is resting at last; The pulse has grown still and the fever is past. He suffers no longer in heart or in brain, And the pain that so racked him shall never come again. He has fallen asleep; Oh, darling, 'tis past, Thank God, as we weep, You are resting at last. BY HIS WIFE ****************************************************************** The funeral of the late Mr. J.H. Floyd was conducted from the Berkley Avenue Baptist Church Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock and was very largely attended by the friends and relatives of the deceased. The services were conducted by the pastor, Rev. T.C. Skinner, after which his remains were laid to rest in Magnolia Cemetery. There was an abundance of flowers laid on the mound that marks his last resting place. Tidewater, No. 30 and Thomas Jefferson, No. 109, Jr. O.U.A.M. and Norfolk Lodge of Woodmen of the World, of which the deceased was an esteemed member, attended the funeral in a body and participated in the burial exercises. The following persons were the pallbearers: Messrs. Dennis Tuttle, A.S. Johnson, Carey Brown, J.C. Yeo, Jessie Nichols, J.T. Sexton and Lewis Hozier.
