Joseph Edward Flynn, aged 71, died at 7:50 o'clock yesterday morning at the 
residence, 1233 Lafayette boulevard. He was a native of Waterford, Ireland, but 
had been a well-known resident of Norfolk for 45 years. Besides his wife, Mrs. 
Mary McDermott Flynn, he is survived by eight daughters, Mrs. Carey T. Hunter, of 
Baltimore; Mrs. Cecil M. Robertson and the Misses Margaret, Josephine, Elizabeth, 
Mary, Ruth and Anna Flynn, all of Norfolk; two sons, Thomas E. Flynn, of Norfolk, 
and Charles E. Flynn, of Baltimore, and three grandchildren, Dorothy Flynn, 
Ruthann Hunter and Carey T. Hunter, Jr. Funeral services will be held at St. 
Mary’s Catholic Church Monday morning at 10 o'clock. Interment will be in St. 
Mary’s Cemetery.
