J. Fogarty. Yesterday afternoon at 4:20 o'clock, Mr. M J. Fogarty, the well-known and much esteemed proprietor of the Norfolk News Depot, in this city, was seized with an apoplectic fit, while in Iris store on Main street, and died after an illness of only a tew minutes. Mr. Fogarty had just come downtown from his residence on Bermuda street when he suddenly became very sick and complained of faintness. Dr. Jas. D. Galt was called in and arrived on the scene just as the dying man drew his last breath. Dr. Wm J. Moore came in a few minutes later and the two physicians decided that the deceased was a victim of apoplexy. Mr. Fogarty was born in Ireland and came to this city from Washington in 1868, since which time he has conducted the news business at his present stand, with success and satisfaction to his customers. He was respected by all who knew him as an honest, upright man, and his sudden demise will be deeply regretted by his numerous friends in Norfolk. He was about 38 years of age and leaves a wife and two children to mourn his loss.
