Requiem mass was celebrated by Rev. Father Edward J. Walsh, during which Father Doherty was seated in the sanctuary. Father Walsh paid a beautiful tribute to the exemplary life of the deceased, making special reference to his patience and Christian fortitude during his very protracted illness. “O Salutaris" was sung by Charles Hudgins and Mrs. James Hughes rendered very sweetly, "Face to Face." There was a profusion of beautiful floral tributes. The remains were laid to rest in Elmwood cemetery. Following were the pallbearers: Patrick Holden, James McDonnell, M. T. Cooke, Michael Cashin, Sr., W. M. Hannan, John F. Lawler, John A. Butt and James T. Holland.
