Virginian Pilot and The Norfolk Landmark Thursday September 13, 1917

The funeral of John M. Forbes, who died Tuesday night at 11:40 o'clock at 
the home of his son-in-law, H.A. Mench, 517 Pennsylvania avenue, Colonial 
Place, will take place this afternoon at 3 o'clock at the above residence 
and will be conducted by Rev. T.R. Reeves and Rev. J.M. Rowland.  
Mr. Forbes was 66 years old.  He had been in declining health for some time.  
He was a native of North Carolina and had lived in Norfolk 32 years.  He is 
survived by his wife, a daughter, Mrs. H.A. Mench; two nieces, Mrs. D. 
Finley Cromwell and Mrs. Bessie Hank and a granddaughter, Sarah Alice Mench.  
Burial will be private in Elmwood Cemetery.
