Virginian Pilot April 4, 1963

Charles Hobday Forbes, 89, of 4409 Newport Ave. died Wednesday at 7:55 in a 
hospital after a long illness.
A native of Jarvisburg, N.C., he lived here 60 years. He was a son of Andrew 
Jackson and Mrs. Margaret Jarvis Forbes and the husband of Mrs. Mattie Lee 
Chapman Forbes.
He was a member of Epworth Methodist Church and its Wesleymen's Bible Class. 
Besides his widow, surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Virginia F. Holt of Norfolk; a 
son, Charles H. Forbes, Jr. of Virginia Beach; a brother, Myron E. Forbes of 
Pasadena, Calif.; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home Friday at 3 
p.m. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
