Zion Church of God for Mrs. Rosa Foster, 82, of 1122 Richmond avenue, Portsmouth, the church mother, who died at her residence after an extended illness. The eulogy was delivered by the Rev. J. J. Burrus of Washington, DC. The Rev. A. B. Robinson pastor of the church, officiated. Scripture was read by the Rev. Leon Britt of Washington and the invocation was offered by W.D. White of the deacon board. The choir led in singing and sang a favorite of the deceased, “Jesus Keeps Me In His Own Good Way.” The church paper was read by Mrs. L. McNeal. Mrs. Beaulah Wilson made acknowledgement of the expressions of sympathy and read the family obituary. Russell Wright sang a solo. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery with arrangements in charge of Graves Funeral Home. Mrs. Foster was a native of Oxford, NC. She lived in Norfolk for more than 25 years. She pioneered in the founding of Mt. Zion Church and held active membership for over half a century. She was at one time president of the Missionary Circle. Her survivors are, a son, Robert Foster Sr., of South Norfolk; three daughters, Mrs. Lucille Wooden of Norfolk, Mrs. Elizabeth Winston and Mrs. Georgia Guy, both of Portsmouth, five grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
