Virginian-Pilot September 27, 1941
Louis Gibbs Fowler, aged 63, husband of Mrs. Eloise Hudgins Fowler, and son of 
the late James Stephens and Mrs. Laura Gibbs Fowler, died at the residence, 816 
Stockley Gardens, last night at 7:33 o'clock. Mr. Fowler was a native of Livonia 
Center, N.Y., and a resident of Norfolk for the past 42 years. He was a member 
of Christ and St. Luke's Church, and Ruth Lodge No. 89, A.F. & A.M. Besides his 
wife, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. John H. Eberman, of Morgantown, W.Va.; 
two grandchildren; a sister, Miss Rhoda Fowler, of Norfolk, and two nieces, Mrs. 
E. J. Newton, of Norfolk, and Mrs. Stanley Hall, of Demarest, New Jersey.
Funeral services will be held at the chapel of the H. D Oliver Funeral 
Apartments, 1501 Colonial avenue, Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock with the Rev. 
Taylor Willis, rector of Christ and St. Luke's Church, officiating. Interment 
will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
