Norfolk Virginian Pilot February 7, 1941

James Benjamin Francis, aged 77, husband of Mrs. Alice Teets Francis and son of 
O.A. and Mrs. Louise Meredith Francis, died at his residence, 824 Wilson Road, 
last night at 8:10 o'clock. Mr. Francis was a native of Richmond and had been a 
resident of this section 50 years. 
Besides his wife, he is survived by four daughters, Mrs. John Moore, Mrs. 
Raymond  Vose and Mrs. William Twiford, all of Norfolk and Mrs. Luther Moore of 
Portsmouth; one son, J.B. Francis, Jr., of New London, Conn. and 15 
grandchildren. 
The body was taken to the H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, 1501 Colonial Avenue, 
pending funeral arrangements.

(Under his photograph:) James Benjamin Francis, who died Thursday night at his 
residence, 824 Wilson Road, and whose funeral will be conducted tomorrow at 2:30 
p.m. at the H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, 1501 Colonial avenue. The Rev. 
Moultrie Guerry, of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, will officiate. Burial will be 
in Elmwood Cemetery. A native of Richmond, Mr. Francis had resided in Norfolk 50 
years and for many years, was connected with A. Wrenn & Son.
