The police were notified and the body was recovered and attempts made to resuscitate the man but life was extinct. The remains were taken to the station house and City Coroner, Dr. John M. Galt, held an inquest over them yesterday morning, the jury consisting of N.F. Murden, George Scultatus, Wm. H. Gray, J.A. Caffee, J.S. Cotton and W.L. Brown, rendering a verdict of accidental drowning. It is supposed that the deceased had been drinking and mistook his vessel and got overboard in trying to get off the tug. The Rev. Mr. Merritt, pastor of the Seaman's Bethel, held funeral services yesterday over the remains.
