Norfolk Virginian Pilot Monday April 18, 1938
Jasper Benjamin, aged 78, died suddenly Saturday night at his residence at New 
Church.  He was a native of Pennsylvania and had been a resident of Norfolk for 
35 years.  For the last three years he had made his home at New Church.  
Surviving him are three daughters, Mrs. Dorthy Franklin and Mrs. Roland Wesson, 
of Norfolk and Mrs. Noland Wesson, of South Carolina and one son, Horace P. 
Franklin, of Norfolk.  The body will arrive tonight and will be taken to the 
funeral chapel of James V. Derry, corner of Harrington and Colley avenues.  
Notice of funeral will appear later.

Norfolk Virginian Pilot Tuesday April 19, 1938

Jasper Bradford Franklin, aged 76, died suddenly at his residence at New Church 
Saturday night.  He was a native of Pennsylvania and had been a resident of 
Norfolk for about 35 years.  He had made his home in New Church for three years.  
Surviving are three daughters, Miss Dorothy Franklin and Mrs. Roland Wesson, of 
Norfolk and Mrs. Noland Wesson, of South Carolina; one son, Horace P. Franklin, 
of Norfolk; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.  Funeral services will 
be conducted tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Derry Funeral Chapel, Colley 
and Harrington avenues.  The Rev. P. Rowland Wagner, pastor of Central Baptist 
Church, will officiate.  Burial will be in Riverside Memorial Park.
