The Norfolk Virginian Pilot March 3, 1936


Mrs. Alice Elizabeth Franklin, age 40 years, wife of Wiley C. Franklin, and 
daughter of John D., and the late Gertrude Elizabeth Dennis, a native and 
former resident of Norfolk, died Saturday morning at 6:40 o’clock at 
Washington, D.C., where she had resided for the past 15 years. Besides her 
husband and father, she is survived by one sister, Mrs. R.A. Bastain, and five 
brothers, W.M., G.H., J.A., C.O., O.D., Dennis, all of Norfolk. Services will 
be held at H.D. Oliver’s Funeral Apartments, 610-612 East Freemason Street, 
Norfolk, this afternoon at 2 o’clock, with the Rev. M.J. Harrison, pastor, of 
St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, Berkley, officiating. Interment will be in 
Elmwood Cemetery.
