He was born in Gates, N.C., and was a member of the Angelic Church of God In Christ of Norfolk. He was the widower of Odessa Freeman. He retired after 30 years of service and was a Local (NU)1819 Longshoreman. He is survived by four daughters, Mary Whidbee, Barbara Freeman, and Brenda Freeman, all of Norfolk, Regina Self of Virginia Beach; two sons, Curtis Freeman Jr. of Norfolk and Dr. George T. Freeman of Washington, D.C.; three brothers, Lenwood Freeman, George Freeman, both of Gates, and Willard Freeman of Chesapeake; nine grandchildren, Tara Williams, Tracy Freeman, Veronica Johnson, Troy Whitehead, Tijauna Whitehead, and Tremain Whidbee, all of Norfolk, Thomas Whidbee Jr. of Germany, Tiffany and Nikki Self of Virginia Beach; five great-grandchildren; a son-in-law, niece; nephews; and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bessie and Robert Freeman. A funeral service will be at 12:30p.m. Saturday in the Christ Cathedral Church of God In Christ and will be conducted by Elder Melvin Munden. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery of Norfolk. Viewing will be from 7 to 8 p.m. in Twilight Funeral Home, 29th and Granby St., Norfolk. T.E. Cooke-Twilight Funeral Home of Suffolk is handling arrangements.
