Mr. Frei was born in Jonesboro, Ark. He was retired from the Navy as a chief petty officer after 20 years of service and was also retired from civil service as an electrician after 18 years. He was a veteran of World War II. He was the widower of Margaret Cathrine Frei and a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and Fleet Reserve Association, Branch (NU)60. Survivors include one daughter, Mary Jane Berlind of Norfolk; four sons, Maj. Robert Wayne Frei, USAF, of Rome, N.Y., Lyn Arthur Frei, Phillip Mark Frei and Aaron Lee Frei, all of Norfolk; one sister, Lena Matthews of St. Louis, Mo.; one brother, Phillip Frei of Gas City, Ind.; six grandchildren; and four great- grandchildren. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 7 p.m. Sunday in Holy Trinity Catholic Church by Father Lou Ruoff. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery Mausoleum, where military honors will be accorded. The family will be at Hollomon- Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, today from 6 to 8 p.m. Family and friends may gather at the church Monday at 10 a.m. to process to the cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. And now Leo is preparing his vegetable garden in heaven.
