The funeral of Joseph D. Freitas took place yesterday at 3 p.m. at St. Mary’s 
Catholic church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. J. J. Doherty, and was largely 
attended. A special delegation from the Eagles, of which order he was a member, 
was present. Burial was in St. Mary’s cemetery, the pall-bearers being Dr. J. W. 
Reed, C. H. Frankenberger, G. M. Compere, J. T. Lambert, O. L. Parkerson, Lawrence 
Kelly, M. Ruggierri and P. Marino. Among the many floral tributes was a pillow 
from the Eagles; a wreath from Southern Distributing Company, and a pillow from 
the Lady Maccabees. Mrs. James Hughes sang “Angels Ever Bright and Fair" and 
"Abide with Me."
