Virginian-Pilot April 19, 1967
NORFOLK — Julian George French, of 1221 Magnolia Ave., the husband of Mrs. Grace 
Codd French and a son of the late John Floyd and Mrs. Virginia Barksdale French, 
died in his home Tuesday at 2:40 p.m.
A native of West Virginia, he lived here 44 years. He was retired from the Old 
Bay Line and was a veteran of World War I. He was a member of Larchmont 
Methodist Church and George Peek Bible Class.
Besides his widow, he is survived by a son, Julian George French Jr. of Reading, 
Pa.; a sister, Mrs. Margaret Newson of Portsmouth; two brothers, John Floyd 
French of Portsmouth and William C. French of Norfolk; and four grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted in H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments Thursday 
at 12:30 p.m. by the Rev. Walter Green of Larchmont Methodist Church. Burial 
will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
