Rogers, of the Bennett Line, named Walter F. French, was drowned in the Albemarle and Chesapeake Canal Thursday near the Coinjock bridge. By some unaccountable means he fell from the deck of the steamer an hour before the crew of the Rogers recovered his body. The remains were brought to Norfolk yesterday norming and was taken charge of by the keeper of the city morgue. Frank Gillam, by whom the body was buried in Calvary cemetery yesterday afternoon. French is reported to have no relatives living, except an aunt in Richmond. The deceased was a native of Spain.
