T. FRIARY DIED FROM INJURIES Prominent Business Man Run Down By Jitney, Succumbs At St. Vincent's M.T. Friary, prominent Norfolk business man, who was run down by a jitney at Charlotte and Granby Streets, on the night of February 10, died at St. Vincent's Hospital yesterday morning, death being due to double pneumonia, which developed as a result of his injuries. Although Mr. Friary's injuries were at first not considered serious, pneumonia developed shortly after he was taken to the infirmary and he never rallied. Mr. Friary was immensely popular with a wide circle of friends and was prominent in the business, religious, social and fraternal life of Norfolk. He was president of the real estate firm of C.H. Ferrell & Co. and was also interested in the Mutual Building Association and the Guaranty Title and Trust Company. He was returning from a directors' meeting of the Mutual Association when he was struck by the car. Fraternally, Mr. Friary was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Red Men and also took an active part in the affairs of the Virginia club. He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He is survived by a wife and two children, Daniel and Margaret and one sister, Mrs. Smothers; a half brother, Philip Coyle, of Australia; a nephew, Thomas A. Smothers and two nieces, Miss Eileen Smothers and Miss Elizabeth Hatcher. He lived at 1407 Colonial Avenue. Funeral services will be conducted at the Sacred Heart Church tomorrow at 10 o'clock and interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. ****************************************************************************** There was a very large attendance at the funeral services of Michael T. Friary at 10 o’clock yesterday morning in the Sacred Heart Catholic church, the tragic death of Mr. Friary as the result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident, giving the services greater sadness. Rev. T. E. Waters officiated at the services. Mrs. James Hughes sang, “Abide With Me” and “Face To Face.” The floral offerings were numerous and beautiful. Assisting Rev. T. E. Waters in the services was Rt. Rev. Monsignor O’Farrell, of St. Mary's Catholic Church, and the following priests also attended the services: Father Leo J. Ryan, Father P. P. Brennan, Father V. D. Warren, Father D. Drake, Father Hammersly, U. S. N., Father Garcia and Father O’Brien, O.M.I. The burial was in St. Mary’s cemetery, where another impressive service was held. The pallbearers were: Honorary—Alex Grice, J. A. Lesner, R. D. Parrott, C. W. Koolage, Jr., Otto Wells, W. H. T. Loyall, Robert Baldwin. W. D. Spratley. Active—John Nokley, Dr. William McGowan, J. J.
