P. FROST DIED YESTERDAY Stricken With Paralysis Several Days Ago, He Never Regained Consciousness Captain Alfred Perkins Frost died yesterday morning at 10:15 o'clock at his residence, 403 Pearl street, after a brief illness from paralysis, lasting since last Wednesday morning. A few minutes before he was stricken and while performing the duties connected with his position, he was apparently as well as he had been for several months. As a matter of fact, while he performed his duties well, he had been in bad health for several months, but few knew of it, for he rarely complained. He was in the company's office in Portsmouth settling for the day's collections when he was stricken and removed to his home, but never regained consciousness, passing away yesterday morning at the time mentioned. Captain Frost was as well known as any man on this side of the river and was equally as popular and highly respected. He was kind and gentle with all with whom he came in contact and for all had a pleasant word. The deceased was 68 years of age and was born in Currituck County, N.C. He was married to Miss Alice J. Humphires of Currituck in 1863 and entered the Civil War as first lieutenant of cavalry in a North Carolina regiment, where he remained until the close of the war. He moved to Berkley with his family about seventeen years ago and has since that time held the position of collector in the employ of the Norfolk County Ferry lessees. He is survived by a grief-stricken widow and three children, Mesdames A.A. Foreman and N.O. Newberry and John H. Frost, also a sister, Mrs. T.C. Humphries, and six grandchildren. The funeral will take place from the residence on Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock and will be conducted by Rev. W.A. Smith, pastor of the Berkley Avenue Baptist Church. The interment will be in Magnolia Cemetery, Berkley ward.
