Fulford, 52, a member of the City School system for the past 27 years, an outstanding organist and choral director, died at his residence, 2501 East Princess Anne road early Christmas Eve. For many years Mr. Fulford had been instructor at Booker T. Washington High School, his field being social science. Illness forced him to relinquish his duties at the school almost a year ago. Numerous churches in this area have benefitted by the deceased musician’s talents either as an organist or as choir director. He was especially well known for his work for many years as director of the Philharmonic Glee Club, an outstanding choral organization whose reputation was developed largely through his untiring efforts. A native of Norfolk, he was the son of the late Walter Wayman Fulford and Mrs. Elizabeth Lincoln Fulford; was active in church work, being a vestryman of Grace Episcopal Church. After obtaining his high school education from old Norfolk Mission College, Mr. Fulford received his A. B. degree from Howard University and his M. A. from Hampton Institute. He was a member of Campbell Lodge No. 67, A. F. and A. M., the Alpha and Omega Consistory, the Arabia Temple Nobles of Mystic Shrine, the Eureka Lodge, Inc., Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Hiawatha Social and Beneficial Association, the Orioles and the Sons of Norfolk. As secretary of Eureka Lodge for several years, Mr. Fulford served in a manner which added considerably to his popularity. In addition to his wife, Mrs. Harriett Brown Fulford, he is survived by Walter Fulford Jr., and three other children, Harriett Elizabeth Fulford, Barbara Ann Fulford, Daniel Brown Fulford, and one brother, James E. Fulford. Funeral services were conducted at Grace Episcopal Church Monday afternoon with the rector, the Rev. Richard B. Martin officiating. Burial arrangements were in charge of the B. F.
