Watford Fuller of the 400 block of Southgate Ave. passed quietly and peacefully into eternal rest in the early hours of Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2001, at her residence. She was a native of Norfolk and the daughter of the late William T. and Louise E. White Watford. Mrs. Fuller retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier after 24 years of service. She held the distinction of being the first African American female to deliver mail in Norfolk. She was a devoted member of First Calvary Baptist Church where she was an usher and for many years served on the kitchen committee that provided meals for families after funeral services at First Calvary. Her friendly smile and happy spirit will be missed by many. She leaves to cherish her precious memory two daughters, Patricia K. Fuller and Janet L. Fuller Jones and husband Marshall; sons, Bruce E. Fuller and wife Diane and Kenneth E. Fuller; three sisters, Evelyn Ziglar Flemming, Maxine Jackson and Sandra Brehon; and a brother, William T. Watford. She will also be sorely missed by grandchildren, Keith J. Jones, Tia D. Jones, Bruce E. Fuller II, Brian A. Fuller, Karanita A. Fuller, Secara L. Harrell; and a great-grandchild, Justin Keith Jones. A funeral will be conducted Monday, Oct. 29, 2001, at noon at First Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Johnnie L. White Sr. officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery . Viewing will be Sunday from 1 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home. The body will be placed in church at 10:30 a.m. Monday.
