Furlow, Ex-Deputy Marshal Is Dead at 69 Humbert Wescott Furlow, 69, United States deputy marshal in Norfolk until his retirement two years ago, died yesterday at his home 1518 DeGrasse Avenue, after a long illness. A native of Macon, Ga., he established residence in Norfolk 35 years ago. He was active in labor affairs both in the union and administrative field - in the former as a member of the International Typographical Union and president of the Norfolk Central Labor Union (AFL); in the latter as State deputy labor commissioner. He retained his union card through all activity after leaving the typographer's trade. He was a past grand chancellor of the Grand Lodge of the Virginia Knights of Pythias, and a member of the board of governors of the Hines Memorial Pythian Home. He also belonged to the D.O.K.K.; Norfolk Lodge No. 1, A.F. and A.M.; Norfolk Lodge No.38, B.P.O.E.; Lafayette Lodge No. 9, I.O.O.F.; Norfolk Council No. 2, Order of Fraternal Americans and Independent Order of Red Men. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Annie M. Deaver Furlow; two sisters, Mrs. Leonard Becker of Spartanburg, S.C. and Mrs. G.F. Gallagher of Los Angeles, Calif. and two brothers, W.A. Furlow of Bristol, Tenn. and T.B. Furlow of Charleston, S.C. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday Sunday at 4:30 p.m. at the Hollomon- Brown Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
