A native of Portsmouth, she was the widow of Herman Richard Furr and the daughter of the late Capt. John Willis Happer. She attended school in Portsmouth and was a graduate of Phillips and West School in Norfolk. Also educated in music, she had been first soprano in the choirs of Church of the Good Shepherd and St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, as well as other churches and had given concerts over radio station WTAR. A descendant of Col. Richard Lee of Dividing Creek, she was a member of the Society of Lees of Virginia. She was a descendant also of Dr. William Happer, an early Norfolk physician. She was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, Norfolk Society of the Arts, Town and Country Garden Club, and the Matinee Music Club. Survivors include a son, Dr. John Happer Furr, of Norfolk, and seven grandchildren. A funeral will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Elmwood Cemetery by the Rev. J.E.D. Harris. H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, Norfolk, is handling arrangements. The family will be at 1216 W. Princess Anne Road, Norfolk. Memorial donations may be made to St. Andrew's Episcopal Church.
