Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Saturday, June 21, 1997 
Dorothy ``Bumpsy'' Gaines of the 2700 block of Tidewater Drive died June 18,
1997, at her residence.

A native of Norfolk, she was a widow and a homemaker.

Survivors include two daughters, Maxine Haynes of Newport News, Margaret Spencer
of Norfolk; a son, Harold James Olds III and daughter-in-law, Deloris A. Olds of
Norfolk; a sister, Viola Phillips of Norfolk; 12 grandchildren; 12
great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; a host of nieces, nephews,
relatives and friends; and a son-in-law, David Spencer of Norfolk.

A funeral will be conducted at noon Monday in First Baptist Church, Lamberts
Point, by the Rev. Anthony Paige. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery , Norfolk.
The family will be at the residence to receive friends. Family and friends will
assemble at 2709 Tidewater Drive at 11 a.m. Monday for the procession to the
church. Viewing will be Sunday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Metropolitan Funeral
Service, Norfolk.
